βThe more power you have, the less power you must use.β
A wise man
A mentor once shared the above good leadership concept with me and it has guided my behaviour for more than a decade now.
It was not until I came across this info-graphic today however, that I knew it was time to substack some good leadership concepts. Afterall, it takes good leaders to build strong communities.
The info-graphic speaks very clearly of the characteristics of good leaders who deliver, verse the characteristics the bad leaders who destroy. I am sure that each and everyone of us will be able to relate and learn from this.
It was one specific characteristic however, which really resonated with me at this time - responsibility.
Responsibility is a concept I discuss with my children ad nauseam.
Taking on personal responsibilities and taking personal responsibility for your actions and the results. All fundamental to shaping the content of your character and for building your path to long term success.
Failure to take responsibility for your actions and outcomes is a downward spiral to personal destruction.
Blaming other people, circumstances or things for your poor performance will ensure that you never learn from your mistakes, improve, build relationships or succeed. And the longer you shirk, neglect or deny responsibility, the longer you will suffer.
For you budding community leaders, looking to improve your life and the lives of those around you - take your responsibilities very seriously!
I guarantee - with great responsibility comes great long term achievement and satisfaction.
So please, subscribe to and take-up the characteristics of a Good Leader who Delivers. There are enough Bad Leaders who Destroy in this world already.
Goldsmith
It is difficult to be a leader, I think that to be one the best path and example is like the one Jesus took: passion for what he did. Being professional in something does not guarantee success, being passionate does, when you are sure of your mission, things will flow from your heart and you will not stop because of the environment, because you are focused on the goal. This conviction makes everything come together to achieve an end or purpose.π
